The two displays
| Outer display (closed) | Inner display (open) |
| Size | 5.4″ | 7.6″ |
| Points (what your app sees) | 466 × 678 | 669 × 951 |
| Pixels | 1398 × 2034 @3x | 2007 × 2853 @3x |
| Density | 460 ppi | 430 ppi |
| Size classes (w × h) | compact × regular | regular × regular |
| Landscape points | — | 951 × 669 |
What this means for layout
- The inner display is regular × regular — like an iPad. Layouts that assume compact width will get the iPad idiom instead.Test every screen in both size-class combinations, not just points.
- 466 × 678 pt outer display is narrow — narrower than any current iPhone. Fixed-width assumptions will clip.Audit for hard-coded widths ≥ 400 pt.
- The fold is a live geometry change — opening/closing resizes the window while the app runs; state must survive trait-collection transitions.Don't cache the initial size class.
- Split View and dual-display modes exist — your app can appear on the outer display while something else uses the inner one.Handle multiple scenes with different geometries simultaneously.
Simulator-only caveat: corner radii, hinge occlusion and color profile (P3 outer / sRGB inner per the profile) are best verified on device after Oct 23 — don't ship pixel-perfect hinge art based on the sim alone.
